The next meeting of our reading group “New Directions in Sound Studies” will take place on Tuesday, June 14, 4-6pm. We’re meeting in room 1.15B of BG1 (Turfdraagsterpad 9).
This time we’re reading Caleb Kelly’s Cracked Media: The Sound of Malfunction (Cambridge: MIT Press, 2009). We will focus on the following pages: 1-43 (Intro), 150-187 (on Marclay) and 211-321 (on the digital glitch). That may look like a lot to read, but as you’ll see there’s very little text on every page.
As always, please bring examples, in this case of sonic malfunction. we’re looking forward to seeing you there.
